I bought a couple Victorian pattern drafting books recently and would definitely do the sleeves differently now. (These sleeves were done in 2 separate pieces, but the books use one long arm piece with the puff sewn on top of the full sleeve). I am totally willing to go Victoriana every day of my life, but I also love the idea of modern meets Victorian... like a subtle steampunk I can wear to work. (I already to go work in a bustle sometimes... :) I'm okay living left of left field, but it'd be nice to incorporate modern taste with my Victorian tastes as well.) Did you design the pattern yourself or have a pattern inspiration to start from?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1683410278809912462.post-21058078446241362412013-02-17T15:37:16.612-08:002013-02-17T15:37:16.612-08:00Thank you so much for your kind words. I guess that's how we all find 'our era', by working out what feels most comfortable to us.Mimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01578612522819952936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1683410278809912462.post-64840674242551670812013-02-16T22:55:14.764-08:002013-02-16T22:55:14.764-08:00I am green eyed over that book! I too love that look..I also have a long locket I like to wear. My daughters like to see your pretty clothes too...they have much the same style! My latest find was a brown wool skirt on ebay, very long with pleats, very Beatrix Potter looking! : )

Just wanted to finally stop by and tell you that you are appreciated and your blog is enjoyed by our family.

Bless you! ~Amelia

Ameliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09093408888499365118noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1683410278809912462.post-77529773174016623552013-02-15T11:31:40.467-08:002013-02-15T11:31:40.467-08:00The sleeves on that top you made, I think they'...The sleeves on that top you made, I think they're gorgeous! I need a few tiny vests myself, the whole look is so cool. Also, that dressmaker's book-- a dream! Did you know a ton of Godey's from the 1880's is on archive.org? I'm guessing yes, but if not, go to that site and search "Godey's fashion" in the box, you'll come up with all kinds of things to ooh and aah over, I love it to death!Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16842611749073935723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1683410278809912462.post-30849714069564155692013-02-15T11:13:42.286-08:002013-02-15T11:13:42.286-08:00What marvelous finds!
