Driving

Yikes! How has it been 10 days since I last posted?! Time has sure flown by very fast the last week or so. I've been very busy getting ready for school. I also completed my G2 driving test (and passed!). I now have almost a full license, although my interest in driving is almost zero. I just don't understand the appeal. But if I had an antique car....

While dreaming of owning an antique car, I came across this amusing little book on the internet archive. They are sort of nursery rhyme parodies about motor cars. Spoiler alert: a lot of the cars in the rhymes explode. It reminded me slightly of the Ghastlycrumb Tinies, although not quite as violent. The best part of the book is the illustrations. With a focus on the cars, here are a few of my favourites:

That's All.

  1. That's absolutely awesome, happiest congrats! My husband started to go through the driver's licensing process in Ontario, but then we moved earlier this year and he ended up getting his "N" (like the G2) out here in B.C. - still one more stage to go, but at least he can drive on his own now and all that good stuff! :)

  2. It takes waaaay longer to get a driver's license in Canada than it does here in the US. That could be one of the reasons people here are such bad drivers! Of course, there are also lots of towns and cities here without any other way of getting around. Since I'd taken "Driver's Education" (which was totally worthless, by the way) I had absolutely no restrictions on my license when I turned 16. I think there have been some changes to that policy now, like not letting teenagers drive around cars full of other teenagers. That was one of the best parts of driving, though! I could fit four other people into my Mitsubishi Eclipse!

If I'd read a book as a kid where all the cars explode, I would have been too scared to drive. The illustrations are awesome, though.

P.S. Congrats on passing your G2!

  5. Congratulations! Drivers license is absolutely essential where I live, I just uploaded a photo to my facebook where I am with my first car when I got my driver's license. It's here.

  6. I love great car art fabulous illustrations. Lauren nailed it many cities in the U.S. have such bad public transit you would be hard pressed to get around with out a car if in the country you would be totally with out transit.
