Work "Uniform"

These photos show one variation of the outfit I wear most days. Bright tights (with matching hair flower of course), comfy skirt, and top. This has become my work "uniform" lately. It looks nice, is relatively practical, and super comfy so it fit my criteria for a tutoring outfit.

As you will notice in these pictures, I put a red streak in my hair. While I liked the hair-chalk, I wanted to try something less messy. I know I'm allergic to most hair dyes, but thought maybe I would be ok with a temporary dye. Nope.  It's a shame because I really liked the red. I did one large streak, then some more subtle streaks throughout the rest of my hair. Anyone have an suggestions for natural yet non-permanent hair dye? I'm starting to think such a thing doesn't exist.

With winter fast approaching, my work "uniform" is going to need to change. I'm thinking of getting some warmer tights and wearing a sweater on top. While dressing up is always fun, it's great to have an easy "no-thought-required" outfit for when I only have 5 minutes to get ready.

That's All.

  1. I know some people dye their hair with koolaid but I'm not sure how well it actually works because I've never tried it myself

    1. Thanks for the idea. I will look into it :)

    2. It does work, you just have to use a lot of cool aid and keep the stuff in for a long time :P I did it with blue and purple, and the blue worked very well.

  2. I love your outfit!
It's not exactly natural, but I love using Kool-Aid as hair dye. The most effective method (for me, at least) is mixing a couple packets in with white conditioner, and leaving the mixture on my hair overnight. Getting the desired color can involve experimentation, but it usually turns out cute no matter what.

    1. I am definitely going to look into the Kool-Aid thing. I've used it to dye wool before, but I never though of using it on my hair! Thanks for the suggestion :)

  3. My first though was, surely it must, but you know, I haven't seen or heard of any either. If I do, I'll let you know pronto. The closest I can think of would be henna, but even that usually takes a few weeks to wash out and isn't nearly as vibrant as most synthetic red hair dyes.

    1. Thanks! I've thought of henna, but sounds like the colour can be unpredictable and it can't be dyed over if it doesn't turn out (something about mineral salts reacting with dye or something). That's definitely a problem with long hair, as any mistakes take years to grow out. I do like how natural it is though.

  5. Have you tried Manic Panic? It's not 'natural', unfortunately, but it's nontoxic, vegan, vegetable-based, and washes out fairly easily!

    1. I've been too scared to try Manic Panic. I had a friend who tried it in highschool and it stained her bathtub. I wouldn't want to risk ruining my 1920's cast-iron claw foot tub.
