An Award and Giant Pants

A while ago the lovely Susan of Susan's Diary - Vintage style meets heavy music awarded me an irresistibly sweet blog award. I was supposed to write 7 random facts about myself then pass on the award. The problem is that I can't seem to come up with 7 random facts! After failing to think of more than one or two facts, I found Jennie of It's a Charmed Life was having the same problem! She decided to ask her readers to leave her questions in the comments, and she would answer them in a post and pass the award to those who asked her something. What a brilliant idea!!!

So I'm going to be completely unoriginal and do the same thing. Leave me a question and I will answer them all in a post :)

In other news I finished one of my many autumn sewing projects: a pair of giant pants! I have been craving a pair of 1930's style pants, especially after discovering Giant Pants of the 30's, so I decided to try and make myself a pair. This was technically my first time sewing pants but I drafted my own pattern and got to work. I LOVE the result! These pants are soooo comfortable! It is like wearing pajama pants.

One last thing, don't forget to enter my giveaway! You have until October 1st.

Some Awards and Forgotten Photos

First off I would just like to thank Presley from Young Vintage Girl for passing on these three awards to me. I've done quite a few awards lately so I won't pass these along, but I just wanted to give a big thank you for these awards! I really appreciate it :)

Exams have been taking up most of my time lately. I wake up, I study, I go to bed. Not very exciting. However I was looking through the files on my computer last night and I noticed there are quite a few photos I planned on using for my blog but for one reason or another never did. I suspect this is common among bloggers. Since I have nothing better to post at the moment, here are some photos that never quite made it to the blog.

This one my friend took a looonnnggg time ago.
Aren't these bookends fabulous? They were given to me by my grandma who got them in the 1940's.
This is from last fall. I love this 1940's (?) dress but it very fragile so I don't wear it very often anymore.
I loved this outfit but was unable to get a decent picture of it. My friend said I looked like Minnie Mouse. I chose to take that as a compliment.
Isn't it cute? This was the last knitting project I completed before the weather became too warm to knit. I love knitting stuffed animals. Too bad I don't know any young children to give them to...
Some forget-me-not's I dried and framed.
This outfit is actually only from a few weeks ago but I forgot to post it. The skirt is made by me, the sweater is from Winners, and all the accessories are vintage.
A great hair day from a year ago.
This was my "uniform" when I waitressed the Victorian Teas at the Bowmanville museum last summer. Although it was really, really too warm for a summers day, I did LOVE that outfit!
My very first time wearing Ruby Woo lipstick by MAC!
This is a cute little 1960s dress I picked up last year.

Blog Award (and maybe some hats?)

First off I would like to thank Nabby for giving me a Liebster Blog award a few days (weeks?) ago. Thank you so much!
I'm supposed to pass it onto blogs with fewer than 300 followers, so I'm giving it to the following blogs (I tried to pick blogs I haven't given awards to lately). Don't feel you have to pass it on if awards aren't your thing.
Flair in a Lady's Boudoir
Grandmothers Pearl's
A Vintage Girls World
Bright Young Twins
TeaCup Allie
Caitlin Rose

In other news, I have been considering making a few of hats (based on my designs) to sell on Etsy. I would likely make them on a made-to-order basis. This won't be until after exams are finished (mid-August) but I wondered if there was any interest out there? I also wondered what people would be willing to pay for them? I'm still not sure if I am confident enough in my knitting skills to actually sell my products but feedback is very much appreciated!!

And just so this post isn't completely pictureless:

Awards and Things I love

This was originally going to be called "long overdue post #2". Before Christmas, Miss Margarita was kind enough to give me a blog award. The next day, I sat down and wrote a post about it with the intention of adding pictures later. Unfortunately with exams it completely slipped my mind, for which I apologize! The conditions of the award are
1. Post who gave you this award.
2. State ten things you like.
3. Give this award to 10 other bloggers and notify them with a comment.

Since then, Frl. Irene Palfy has also been kind enough to give me another blog award. The conditions for this award are
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Award 10 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!
As you can see the conditions are very similar so instead of doing two long boring posts about myself, I have decided to condense it to one (with some random pretty pictures to keep you all entertained!). So here are 7 things I love:
1)Stationary: Nobody sends letters anymore, which is such a shame. There is something about receiving a letter in the mail that just brightens up the day. I love sending letters and I have a massive collection of pretty stationary on which to do so. It would just be nice if someone actually wrote back!

2)Frozen Juice Boxes: I realize I am likely the only person who does this, but I love eating frozen juice boxes. It is better if you freeze them upside down then allow to thaw just slightly, then cut open the top, grab a spoon, and enjoy!
3)Books: This one is quite obvious. I have a complete obsession with books and have run out of places to store them all (over 400 last time I counted). I tend to favour murder mysteries, novels set in the 20s/30s, and large beautiful coffee table books about any subject.

4)Rain: I love when it is raining. I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than at a great little cafe (with a newspaper and a latte) watching the rain pour down outside. I also love rainy evenings spent inside watching Masterpiece Mystery with my family.
5)20s/30s music: It seems I always have some Annette Hanshaw or Whispering Jack Smith playing in the background. Drives everyone else crazy :D

6)Farms: I would love to own a farm someday, with a Victorian brick farm house, at least 10 acres, and a large old barn. I have it all figured out. I would raise sheep, alpacas, angora bunnies and have a couple llamas too. Then I would make yarn from their fleece and have a little shop selling the yarn, knitting supplies, and completed projects. (Yes, highly unlikely to actually work out but a girl can dream...)
7)Number 7 already? But there are so many other things I love! Oh well, I suppose I will just have to put down Crafting: I do a little bit of everything: knitting, sewing, embroidery, painting, using a glue gun on just about anything, etc.

Well I hope I didn't bore you too much! And now to pass these awards onto other people. I always have a hard time deciding who to pass these awards onto. I have decided to let the winners pick which award they would like (partly because I was afraid of someone thinking something like "wait, what do you mean you are giving me the sweet friend award? Are you saying I'm not stylish enough for the stylish blog award?!" ). So I pass the award of your choice onto the following:
