Ice Storm

This may be my last post until after Christmas if the power goes out again. We were hit by a really bad ice storm on the weekend and have been without power or heat. We've been luckier than most, and our power was only out for about 20 hours in total. Some folks may not get power until after Christmas! The storm is over but there is still a danger of the heavy ice covered branches coming down on the power lines.

Power lines! Please, please stay up there!
This was our drive way
A lot of our friends and neighbors are still without power. This time of a year power outages are more than just an inconvenience; they are downright dangerous. I was very concerned about my cat freezing to death, but she seemed warmer than the rest of us. I hope everyone still without power is staying safe and has found somewhere warm to stay.

And to everyone: Merry Christmas! (just in case I'm without power again...)

  1. Merry Christmas to you, Kate! I hope your power - and heat - stays on! We in Britain are bracing ourselves for gale-force winds and torrential rain, but ice storms - goodness me! Lovely to look at in the pictures, another matter living with it day to day I can well imagine.

  2. Oh My goodness that is so scary! I saw about this on the news! I don`t think we would survive here being without power for 20 hours as it is -30 degrees here. I hope it all gets cleaned up and the streets are safer soon!

  3. Oh my goodness, honey, that's rough. I will keep my fingers firmly crossed that you don't loose your power on Christmas. Candles may be old-fashioned and look fantastic in Christmas cards, but they're not how most of us want to light our holiday seasons entirely! :)

Tons of hugs & fabulously festive holiday wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

  4. Gosh, that sounds awful. I hope you're able to stay safe and warm, can and all. (I've taken my pet snake to bed in power cuts before now!)
