Haircut and an Everyday Outfit

Hello everyone! Well I finally got around to cutting my hair. (Only took about 6 months...) I lopped off about 10inches but as you can see it is still quite long. For some reason my hair seems to be really dry this summer, but it feels so much better since I cut off the ends and did a couple deep conditioning treatments. 

I decided to treat myself with curly hair for a day, but unfortunately didn't last long in this heat. Next time I will add some lemon juice to help hold the curl. 

This is pretty much a typical "everyday" outfit for me. I normally wear a blouse, trousers, and some comfy shoes to work. It's fast and easy in the morning, and is comfortable enough to tutor in.

I am seriously loving this cut. I think this is my preferred length. It is still long, but short enough to play around with a bit more. 

In other news: IT'S BERRY SEASON!!!!! Eek! I am so excited to finally have black raspberries again. We have more than we can eat fresh, so if anyone has any good recipes let me know in the comments. I made quite a few scones and cakes last year but I'm looking to expand my recipe collection. We have a LOT of berry bushes...

I'm still harvesting lots of other veggies as well, such as kale, rhubarb, and swiss chard.

Sweaters and Spinach

Note: I just wanted to thank everyone for your kind words on my last post. After taking a few weeks for myself, I think I am ready to get back into my normal routine. So to start things off, here is an outfit post:

I've been catching up on a lot of little projects lately. A couple years ago I made the infamous "3-hour sweater". (I used the original instructions, not the modified version.) At the time my seaming skills were rather poor and after a few wears the sweater was tucked into the back of my closet. It then moved to my "repair pile" for another year. Finally, I unpicked the seams and did a proper job. And guess what? Now I LOVE this sweater! I'm just sad I didn't fix it sooner. 

I paired it with a me-made belt, 1930's style sunglasses, and my favourite beret. I was aiming for a casual 30's vibe. 

The garden harvest has also started. My spinach, mint, kale and basil are all ready for their first harvests. I've done successive planting so hopefully I should get food all summer (if the bunnies don't eat them first!). The basil has been turned into pesto, the mint is currently drying so it can be made into tea, the spinach has been eaten immediately, and of course the kale ended up in the best food ever: quiche! There are no words for how much I love quiche. It is the perfect food and great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Mmmm..... I make it entirely from scratch, including a wholewheat crust. 

Anyone else eating from their gardens this year? The season here is very late this year. Our black-raspberries are about a month behind. I want berries! Oh well, I will just have to wait for Mother Nature to catch up.
