Easter

Happy Easter everyone! I had a great outfit planned for today, featuring my homemade floral crown and a straw boater. Unfortunately, someone (you know who you are) infected me with strep throat. So instead of frolicking around in my Easter bonnet, I'm home on the sofa eating raw garlic and drinking ginger tea (which is actually surprisingly effective).

I had to take a few pictures of my hat, even if I don't get a chance to wear it this year (I may have to wear it out for coffee one day, just to give it an outing). I was planning on pairing it with these darling pink vintage gloves.

I hadn't finalized the rest of my outfit yet, but it would have looked something like this:

I hope everyone else is having a better day than I am.

At least I have a homemade rhubarb/apple upside-down cake to look forward to later.
It's grain free and free of added sugar, so fingers-crossed it still tastes as good as it looks.

That's All.

  1. Aww feel better, Kate.

I adore those pictures of your lovely hat and gloves and pearls and book...so very reminiscent of an earlier era when women's fashion was so much more graceful and tasteful. Double sigh....

  2. OH poor you Kate!!! I hope you are better soon. Beautiful Easter bonnet and you have reminded me what an idiot I was not to wear my Grandmother's flower covered straw hat for our school Easter bonnet parade-what an idiot I am to forget about it!!!x

  4. My dear,
A hat like that deserves an outing. Take it out for a "test drive" - flaunt it. :)

  6. Oh no, I'm sincerely sorry to hear that you've been hit with strep, honey. It got me last fall (as did two cold, the flu, an ear infection that lasted for over four months - it was not a fun time on the health front at all!) and I think I'm still trying to build my energy levels back up after it. I hadn't had strep since my teens and almost forget just how brutal it can be. Fingers crossed that you're able to make a swift and full recovery. I'll be thinking of you and sending tons of healing hugs and well wishes your way.

*PS* Your cake looks super yummy!

  7. That really blows! I hope you feel better soon, strep is just the pits.
I love your little Easter tableau, though - very pretty and festive. I think this would also make a perfect May Day outfit, so maybe just repurprose it! I'm sure it'll be worth the wait, whenever it makes an appearance.
    Cheers,
    Jessica, Zella Maybe
